Black Footed Ferret

Black-Footed Ferret

It is MUG MONDAY once again! Master of the Smokey eye and a stunning pouty lip 🫦 Coming next to the stage is Black-footed ferret 💅💅 this legendary icon from the house of Mustelidae did not, like most divas we know, submit her music in 1979 and everyone thought she was extinct 💀 but don’t worry! Because she made it to the venue just in time (ok a little late) being rediscovered in 1981 in Meeteetse, Wyoming (ok and like, after that they got sick (not in a good way) and we went down to 18 INDIVIDUALS WHAT?) BUT thanks to conservation science and the dedication of scientists they got that population back up to 300 individuals!) after this they promptly rejoined the scene making their way back to 8 states, Canada AND Mexico! And if you aren’t impressed yet just wait, cause she had a double reveal no one was expecting, in 2020 scientists, in an effort to diversify the gene pool, CLONED a girly ferret from the 80s successfully giving us Elizabeth Ann, the first successfully cloned, Black-footed ferret! This species is Endangered, there are only about 495 individuals left in the world but conservationists are working hard to protect and support them! Check out the U.S. Fish and Wildlife page on this species for more information on how you can support this stunning species!
